In an ancient monastery of Atri where Dominican Friars had been extracting licorice juice since the middle ages, Cavalier De Rosa, in 1836, organized the industrial manufacturing of this precious plant and its derivatives, thanks to the excellent quality  of the roots  picked in the surrounding area.
